TAX DEPARTMENT

The Tax Collector’s Office is responsible for the billing and collection of Town property taxes and all related penalty charges. Its goal is to assist in maintaining the fiscal stability of the Town by ensuring the timely collection and recording of all taxes through the diligent application of State Statutes, Town Ordinances, regulations and other enforcement aids, while assisting the public in understanding the taxation process and procedures and maintaining an effective and cordial relationship with the general public. The Collector is also responsible for reporting fiscal information to various Town Departments, Boards and Commissions, the State of Connecticut and the United States Bureau of the Census.

We offer a email or phone reminder that taxes are due. A reminder will be sent @ one week before taxes are payable; the last week of December; for the second installment that comes due January 1. If you would like to be included on the email reminder list, please send an email to Beth Hamel -Tax Collector at taxes@harwinton.us. Please include your name, property address and the email address, or phone number, where you would like to receive the reminder. If you change your phone or email please update us as we will be unable to send the reminder.  Failure to receive the reminder does not negate interest.
