The Town of Harwinton Regional Animal Control Department is committed to enforcing Connecticut State Laws related to animal welfare. The laws are there to benefit the animals as well as the people.

We proudly servicing the following towns:

  • Harwinton
  • Litchfield
  • Morris
  • Winchester/Winsted
  • New Hartford

Our Animal Control Officer (ACO) investigates complaints of:

  • Aggressive dogs
  • Cruelty, neglected, or abused dogs
  • Nuisance, roaming or stray dogs

Our ACO is also responsible to care for all animals at the dog pound.

  • Dogs at Sports Complex - $50.00
  • Dogs unleashed - $50.00
  • Boarding - $25.00
  • Redemption - $15.00 *  

*Please note: that the invoice for your dog must be paid at the Finance Office during normal business hours before the animal can be released back into your care. No redemptions will be processed during nights and weekends. Payment methods are Check or Money Order only (payable to Town of Harwinton).  Proof of ownership (licensing and tag) is required when reclaiming your animal.
